HSU partners with the 2026 Vietnamese-Chinese Literary Translation Competition, connecting cultures through language.

The 2026 Vietnamese-Chinese, Chinese-Vietnamese Literary Translation Competition connects students from both countries.

The competition is jointly organized by the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City and Chi Culture Joint Stock Company (Chibooks), with the support of Hoa Sen University, Beijing Foreign Studies University (Vietnam Research Center), the Chinese Writers Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, and the Chinese Literature Reading Club in Vietnam.

With participation from students from 52 universities and colleges in Vietnam and 30 in China, the competition opens up a space for cross-border academic exchange. It also provides an opportunity for contestants to apply their language skills, literary appreciation, and cultural understanding to the translation process between Vietnamese and Chinese.

Literary translation requires translators not only to master grammar and vocabulary but also to be able to perceive the expressive nuances, cultural context, and intellectual depth of the work. Therefore, each translation is a process of seeking similarities between the two languages ​​while respecting the unique features in the way each culture thinks and expresses itself.
